AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE USE OF A FACSIMILE SIGNATURE
FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER ON CERTAIN CHECKS, VOUCHERS,
AND WARRANTS; AND MAKING VARIOUS PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO.
WHEREAS, Section 11,06u of the City Charter of the City of Huntsville
provides for the use of machine imprinted facsimile signatures of the
Mayor and City Manager on checks, vouchers and warrants for withdrawal of
money from City depositories; and
WHEREAS, Texas Revised Civil Statutes, Article 717 j-1 provides for
the use of facsimile signatures upon public securities and instruments of
payment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is necessary to authorize
the Mayor and City Manager to use machine imprinted facsimile signatures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Huntsville, Texas, that:
Section 1: Chapter 2, Administration of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Huntsville, Texas, is hereby amended by the addition of a new
Section 2-4, Facsimile Signature, that shall read as follows:
Section 2-4. Facsimile Signatures
The Mayor and City Manager are authorized to use a facsimile
signature to certify, endorse, execute, and authorize the
issuance of checks, vouchers and warrants for withdrawal of
money from City depositories.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption by City Council.
