A RESOLUTION OF THE,CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF AN HOMELAND SECURITY AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT
ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS FIRE STATION CONSTRUCTION GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A FIRE STATION; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S
EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE
CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS The City desires to ensure the safety of all it citizens and; The City of Huntsville requires the
Fire Department be charged with this task; and
WHEREAS It is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the Homeland
Security A.R.R.A Assistance to Firefighters Fire Station Construction Grants program for the
construction of a Fire Station.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Coundl of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
SECTION 1: A Homeland Security application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City and be
placed in competition for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of
2009.
SECTION 2: The application will be for no more than $2,100,000.00 of grant funds for construction of a
Fire Station on Highway 75 North.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to address the safety needs of
the Community.
SECTION 4: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager, Bill Baine, as the City's Chief
Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this
application and the City's participation in the Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters
Fire Station Construction Program Grant.
