A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING
THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY
AND HOUSING AFFAIRS (TDHCA) FOR THE TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK
GRANT PROGRAM UNDER THE 2008 SUPPLEMENTAL DISASTER RECOVERY FUND; AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S
PARTICIPATION IN THE 2008 DISASTER RECOVERY FUND.
WHEREAS Hurricane Ike presented many in Huntsville and Walker County with much needed housing
repairs and the safety of the residents is important to the City, and
WHEREAS it is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the 2008
Supplemental Disaster Recovery Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
SECTION 1: An application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City and be placed in
competition for funding under the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program.
SECTION 2: The application will be for $933,481.00 of grant funds to implement the Disaster Recovery
on Huntsville and Walker County residents.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to address the repair and
replacement of low to moderate income housing problems for the city and residents of
Huntsville and Walker County.
SECTION 4: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager, Bill Baine, as the City's Chief
Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this
application and the City's participation in the Texas Community Development Block Grant
Program under the 2008 Supplemental Disaster Recovery Fund.
