A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF A DIGITIZATION GRANT APPLICATION TO THE MEADOWS FOUNDATION FOR THE
DIGITIZATION OF THE PERMANENT AND HISTORIC RECORDS OF THE CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE;
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN
THE DIGITIZATION GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS The City desires to develop a viable community for all citizens, and the City historic and
current records are vulnerable to destruction in the event of natural disasters, burglary or
other mishaps at the current storage facility, and
WEREAGE It is in the best interest of the community to develop and provide a readily accessible
method of retrieving city documents; and
WHEREAS It is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the Meadows
Foundation's Grant Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
SECTION 1: An application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City and be placed in
competition for funding under the Meadows Foundation Grant Program.
SECTION 2: The application will be for no more than $180,000 of grant funds to carry out the
Digitization Project and provide two additional years of maintenance costs.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to address the public access
needs of the community at large.
SECTION 4: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager as the City's Chief Executive
Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this
application and the City's participation in the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
