AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, BY ADDING A NEW
CHAPTER, TO BE ENTITLED CHAPTER , REQUIRING
THE LICENSING FOR THE OPERATION OF BUSINESSES
ENGAGED IN THE WRECKING OR DISASSEMBLING OF MOTOR
VEHICLES OR MACHINERY OF ANY KIND, OR FOR THE
STORING OF WORN OUT, WRECKED, OR ABANDONED MOTOR
VEHICLES PROVIDING AN ANNUAL LICENSE FEE AND PRE-
SCRIBING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE TERMS
OF SAID ORDINANCE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1: It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person,
partnership, or corporation, to engage in the business
of wrecking or disassembling motor vehicles, or the
storing of worn out, wrecked, or abandoned motor ve-
hicles, or machinery of any kind for the purpose of
salvage within the corporate limits of the City of
Huntsville, Texas, without first obtaining a permit
therefor as hereinafter provided and otherwise complying
with the provisions of the within ordinance.
Section 2: Any person, partnership, or corporation desiring to
engage in the business of wrecking or disassembling
of motor vehicles or in the storing of same for the
purpose of salvage shall make written application to
the City Secretary for a license for such business,
which said application shall set forth the name and
address of the applicant and al legal description of
the property or premises upon ¥hich said business
is to be conducted. Said application shall be
accompanied by an application fee of $50.00 and shall
threafter be renewable on January 1st of the next
succeeding year after issuance of said license upon
the payment by said applicant of an annual renewal fee
in the amount of $20.00.
Section 3: Any person, partnership or corporation granted a
license as provided for in Section 2 hereof, shall keep
the premises used in the operation and maintenance of
said business in a neat and orderly condition. The
property and premises on which said business is con-
ducted and where such disassembled or stored motor

vehicles are kept shall be enclosed by a tight fence
at least six (6) feet in heighth and said fence shall
be kept in a neatly condition at all times, and no
wrecked or disassembled motor vehicle, or stored
worn out, wrecked or abandoned motor vehicle shall be
allowed to remain outside such tenced area.
Section 4: Any person, partnership, or corporation granted a
license as provided for in Section 2 hereof, and operat-
ing said business shall keep and maintain in a well
bound book, an accurate record of any wrecked or worn
out motor vehicle purchased in the course of said
business or placed with the owner of said business tor
storing, indicating in such record the disposition
made of such motor vehicle either by sale or disassembl-
ing thereof. Said record shall be available for inspec-
tion by representatives of the Police Department of
the City of Huntsville or any other law enforcement
agency at all times.
Section 5: Any person violating the terms and conditions of this
Ordinance, upon conviction, shall be deemed guilty of
a misdemeanor and shall be punished as prescribed in
Section 1 -8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Huntsville, Texas.
