PROCLAMATION
NO. 2015-15
WHEREAS Andrea Corley, a.k.a. Brooke Addams, has been a voice of KSAM and The Hits since
December 2000, sharing information and entertaining listeners; and
WHEREAS in the roles of radio personality, Operations Manager, and Program Director, she
has also helped the station organize and hold special events such as M.A.S.H.,
Operation Troop Transport, and Operation K-9; and
WHEREAS Brooke’s involvement throughout our community has been wide-ranging, as she has
been a member and officer of the Huntsville Lions Club, served as a YMCA
basketball coach for six years and on the YMCA Board, served on the Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors and graduated the Huntsville Leadership Institute
Program, and served with the Faith Lutheran PTO, and on the United Way Board;
and
WHEREAS she has been recognized for her hard work and significant contributions, including
being named Lion of the Year and a Jack Wiech Fellow, being awarded as the YMCA
2009 Volunteer of the Year, receiving the Chamber’s Director of the Year in 2013
and their Chairman’s Membership Sales Award in 2008, and twice being
nominated for and recognized as the runner-up for The Huntsville Item Citizen of
the Year Award; and
WHEREAS perhaps one of Brooke’s greatest achievements was her founding of the local Relay
for Life event with the American Cancer Society, in 2004, an annual celebration of
life and remembrance that raises important funding and awareness.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared: “Brooke Addams/Andrea Corley Day”
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to celebrate her many contributions as
an engaged citizen, friend, and local celebrity who is deeply appreciated and will be truly
missed. We know how much her new community will enjoy coming to know her.
