Proc. 2010-04 Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd Day 10-01-09 PROCLAMATION NO. 2010-4 WHEREAS Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd was an integral part of the community of Huntsville for many years, and well-known and loved by many friends and family members here; and WHEREAS Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd came to Huntsville from Hearne, and worked at the Huntsville Public Library until retiring, sharing her love of books with the public and especially children; and WHEREAS Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd always had an avid interest in and was an important part of the election process in Huntsville and Walker County, and was a tireless volunteer and researcher; and WHEREAS Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd was a proud and involved member of the American Legion Auxillary, and promoted and supported the programs and activities of Sam Houston Post 95, often crocheting for charity; and WHEREAS Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd was a gardener of children, friends and family, tending them with as much heart as she did her pets and plants; and WHEREAS Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd was born this day in 1947, in Galveston, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: October 1, 2009 be declared: “Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd Day” in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of the life of Linda Sue Sweaks Byrd and acknowledge her special contributions to our community.
