Proc. 2010-58 Huntsville's Demi-Semi-Sept-Centennial 07-12-10 PROCLAMATION NO. 2010-58 WHEREAS Pleasant Gray, lately of Huntsville, Alabama, received a land grant from the Mexican government on July 12, 1835; and WHEREAS Pleasant and Hannah Gray established a trading post and began selling lots in the new town they called Huntsville; and WHEREAS Huntsville became a part of the great State of Texas when it formed, and the county seat for the County of Walker when it came into existence; and WHEREAS today the City and its citizens celebrate 175 years of community since being founded. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: July 12, 2010 be declared: “Huntsville’s Demi-Semi-Sept-Centennial” in the City of Huntsville and urge all citizens to acknowledge and celebrate the founding of our fine city, on July 12 1835. th PROCLAIMED AND SIGNED this the 12 day of July, 2010. ___________________ J.
