Proc. 2010-XX City Huntsville Day 07-12-10 PROCLAMATION NO. 2010-XX WHEREAS in 1835, when the area of Walker County was still a part of the country of Mexico, a land grant was given for a new town; and WHEREAS in 1845, the County of Walker was founded, and the town became its county seat; and WHEREAS 175 eventful years passed, as commemorated on the signs you see around the Courthouse today; and WHEREAS today the citizens of Walker County join the City of Huntsville to wish them a Happy Birthday, and blessings for many, many more years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: July 12, 2010 be declared: “City of Huntsville Day” in Walker County, and urge all citizens to celebrate the birth of our county seat, on July 12, 1835. th PROCLAIMED AND SIGNED this the 12 day of July, 2010. ___________________ Danny Pierce, County Judge
