PROCLAMATION
NO. 2013-14
WHEREAS the conferring of an Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be
bestowed upon a Boy Scout and years of dedication and commitment are
required to achieve Eagle rank and Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role
models in the community; and
WHEREAS James Oliver has been involved in Boy Scouts since starting as a Tiger Cub,
eventually earning 41 merit badges, the 50-Miler Award, and being named
Scout of the Year twice in Troop 114; and
WHEREAS as of 2013, James Oliver has completed all of the requirements for the rank
of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS James’ Eagle Project was the razing of an old wooden retaining wall and
construction of a new stone wall for the St. Thomas Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud to have James Oliver in the community, as he
exemplifies the values that make a community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
January 13, 2013
be declared: “James Oliver Day”
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of his
achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
