PROCLAMATION
NO. 2012-11
WHEREAS Valda Lee Holland was born November 9, 1908, to Christopher
Fitzgerald and Ora Lee Wootten, in Valley View, Texas, ten miles
from the Red River; and
WHEREAS Mrs. Hall grew up in Gainesville, Texas, where she graduated from

the 11 grade; and
WHEREAS Mrs. Hall attended the College of Industrial Arts in Denton, Texas, and
worked as a secretary for the Texas A&M Poultry Department; and
WHEREAS on November 11, 1934, Ms. Valda Holland married Mr. James B. Hall
in Bryan, Texas, sharing fifty wonderful years and raising their four
children together, until his passing in 1984.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me
as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
November 4, 2011
be declared:
“Valda Hall Day”
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to celebrate the life of Valda Hall, a very
special part of our community for the last seventy-six years.
