PROCLAMATION NO.
2011-18
WHEREAS society owes a debt of gratitude to physicians for their contributions to the
never ending fight against disease; and
WHEREAS our community feels a debt of gratitude to our physicians for their sympathy
and compassion in ministering to the sick, and in alleviating human suffering;
and
th
WHEREAS since the Proclamation of National Doctors Day in 1991, March 30 has been set
aside to honor doctors annually; and
WHEREAS in addition to the doctors whose names we easily recognize, there are countless
others who carry on the quiet work of healing everyday in Huntsville and
surrounding communities. These physicians respond to the changing healthcare
landscape and never forget the meaning behind their Hippocratic Oath.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of
the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
March 30, 2011
be declared: “Doctors Day”
in the City of Huntsville, and urge all citizens to express sincere appreciation to the medical
profession for its efforts and accomplishments in mankind’s continuing war against disease.
