Proc. 2011-07 AT&T Day at Sam Houston State University 12-10-10
PROCLAMATION
NO. 2011-07
WHEREAS the James and Nancy Gaertner Performing Arts Center at Sam Houston State University is
featured on the cover of the new 2010 AT&T Real Yellow Pages directory serving the
Huntsville area; and
WHEREAS the Center, dedicated in August 2010, serves as a focal point for the University, and features
several performances annually by students, faculty, and professionals, including an
appearance by the Houston Symphony Orchestra on October 29, 2010; and
WHEREAS the Center encompasses more than 100,000 square feet, cost $38.5 million to build, and
includes practice studios for theatre, dance and music, faculty offices, set design and
building spaces, costume design and wardroom facilities, and also features seven
installations of “public art”—sculpture, mosaics, and murals—especially commissioned
for the Center; and
WHEREAS more than 50,000 copies of this AT&T Real Yellow Pages directory have been produced for
distribution in the area this year; and
WHEREAS AT&T has become a sponsor of the SHSU football scoreboard, and the AT&T Real Yellow
Pages has been a sponsor for the scoreboard in Johnson Coliseum; and
WHEREAS AT&T Real Yellow Pages Southeast Texas Area Marketing Manager Edwin Graves has joined
us today to celebrate AT&T’s support of Sam Houston State University.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared: “AT&T Day at Sam Houston State University”
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of this meaningful
establishment in our community.
