PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS the state of Texas was recently ranked 46 out of 50 in public political
engagement; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville City Council and City Secretary seek to inform and
educate the public on the electoral process and need for all members of
society to understand the privilege and responsibility of participating in a
democracy; and
WHEREAS Faith Lutheran School educators Susan Fritz and Nicole Clark and their
2013-2014 third and fourth grade classes explored all levels of government
in the United States, and practiced activities such as registering to vote,
speechmaking, publicity, creating ballots, and voting at polling locations
with appropriate identification in their campaign and election for student
council; and
WHEREAS the City Council would like to recognize the efforts of these students and
teachers in engaging in education on the political process and sharing their
experiences with their families and our community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in
me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that
December 3, 2013
be designated as: “Fritz & Clark Political
Engagement Explorers Day”
in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to likewise explore the political landscape
to learn more about how to participate in and educate others on the election
process.
