Proc. 2016-52 - Emergency Preparedness Month, 9-6-16
PROCLAMATION
NO. 2016-52
WHEREAS Governor Greg Abbott has declared that Texas has more natural disasters than any other state and could this year surpass the 1979 record year for Texas disaster; and
WHEREAS preparedness is the key to being ready to face threats and reduce the loss of life and property during events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, droughts,
pandemics, acts of terrorism, and cyberattacks; and
WHEREAS all Texans are encouraged to develop and practice emergency plans that include a communications strategy and emergency meeting locations; three-day disaster preparedness kits
for homes and vehicles; and include special considerations for pets, young children, seniors, those with access and functional needs, and those with medical devices; and
WHEREAS it is important to stand ready by staying informed and following instructions from local officials and emergency management personnel.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
September 2016
be declared: Emergency Preparedness Month
in the City of Huntsville, and urge all residents to follow #ReadyHuntsville messaging on the City’s website and social media platforms.
