PROCLAMATION NO.
2016-37
WHEREAS today’s society is finding more citizens involved in motorcycling on the roads of our country and promoting rider safety through education programs and increasing public awareness;
and
WHEREAS while subject to the same rights and privileges as operators of other vehicles on all roads and highways, motorcyclists are more exposed while riding and therefore more prone
to injury or death in a crash than other vehicle drivers; and
WHEREAS it is the responsibility of all who get behind the wheel to become aware of motorcyclists, regarding them with the same respect as any other vehicle and likewise the responsibility
of riders and motorists alike to obey all traffic laws and safety rules.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared:
Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month
in the City of Huntsville, and I encourage all citizens to commit to increasing safety and awareness in our community by recognizing the annual increase in motorcycle traffic and helping
to reduce accidents.
