Proc. 2016-33 - Wesley Oberg Eagle Scout Day - 4-3-16
PROCLAMATION
No. 2016-33
WHEREAS the conferring of the designation of Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be bestowed upon a Boy Scout as it requires years of dedication and commitment to achieve,
since Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role models in the community; and
WHEREAS Wesley Oberg began scouting in 2009, as a Webelo in Pack 523, and earned the Arrow of Light and joined Troop 524 in Brazoria, Texas before moving to Huntsville in 2012; and
WHEREAS Wesley was a member of local Troop 114 and earned 29 merit badges as well as serving as Den Chief for Cub Scout Pack 98, Patrol Leader, Webmaster, and Quartermaster; and
WHEREAS for Wesley’s Eagle Scout Project, he raised money from churches and individuals to fund six picnic tables, which he and his fellow scouts built for Lakeview United Methodist
Church Camp in Palestine, Texas; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud of Wesley Oberg, as he exemplifies the values which make a community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that
April 3, 2016
be designated as: John Wesley Oberg Day
in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to join in the celebration of this achievement
and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
