PROCLAMATION
NO. 2018-37
WHEREAS part of the pleasure of living in a small community over time is seeing the ways in which individuals make an impact by improving their surroundings and the lives of their neighbors;
and
WHEREAS there is perhaps no better location than here near David Addickes’ “A Tribute to Courage” to remember another man of conviction and determination who was instrumental in all
that you see around us today; and
WHEREAS William H. Hodges, fondly known often as “Hodge”, served our city well for many years, not the least of which was during his time as the Mayor of Huntsville, when he was a champion
for the Sam Houston Statue and the Visitor Center; and,
WHEREAS today we celebrate the opening of this beautiful expansion, designed to allow even more residents and visitors to enjoy this special place and share in Huntsville’s warm welcome,
it is with pride and joy that we dedicate it as the William H. Hodges Education Building.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:

be declared: WILLIAM H. HODGES DAY
in the City of Huntsville and encourage all of Huntsville’s citizens to take Hodge’s spirit to heart in finding ways to love our community and continue to seek its advancement.
