Proc. 2017-26 - Samuel Seppanen Eagle Scout Day - 5-7-17
PROCLAMATION
No. 2017-26
WHEREAS the conferring of the designation of Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be bestowed upon a Boy Scout as it requires years of dedication and commitment to achieve,
since Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role models in the community; and
WHEREAS Samuel W. Seppanen began scouting in 2009 and completed Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos, and earned his Arrow of Light Award before crossing over to become a Boy Scout
in 2014; and
WHEREAS Samuel is a member of Troop 114, and has earned over 50 merit badges as well as being inducted into the Order of the Arrow and serving as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader; Patrol
Leader; Assistant Patrol Leader; Troop Guide; Chaplain’s Aide; and Historian; and
WHEREAS two years ago, Samuel earned the World Conservation Award, so, for his Eagle Scout project, Samuel’s interest in conservation led him to create a bird sanctuary at his church,
Elkins Lake Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud of Samuel Seppanen, as he exemplifies the values that make a community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in
me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that
May 7, 2017
be designated as: Samuel W. Seppanen Day
in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to join in the celebration of this achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
