PROCLAMATION
NO. 2019-17
WHEREAS emergencies can occur at any time that requires police, fire, or emergency medical services; when an emergency occurs the prompt response of police officers, fire fighters, and
emergency medical services personnel is critical to the protection and preservation of life and property; and
WHEREAS the safety of our police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical services personnel is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who
telephone the Walker County Public Safety Communications Center; Public Safety Telecommunicators are the first, and for some the most critical contact our citizens have with emergency
services; and
WHEREAS Public Safety Telecommunicators are the single most vital link for our police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical services personnel by monitoring their activities
via radio and other electronic means, providing them with information, and insuring their safety; Public Safety Telecommunicators of the Walker County Public Safety Communications Center
have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients and insuring their safety; and
WHEREAS each Dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during their performance of their job in the past year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
April 14-20, 2019
be declared: National Public Safety Telecommunications Week
in the City of Huntsville to honor the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep Huntsville’s first responders and citizens safe.
