AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING RATES AND CHARGES
FOR LOCAL EXCHANGE TELEPHONE SERVICE FURNISHED
BY SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY, AND
REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
Section 1: That Southwestern Bell Telephone Company is hereby
authorized to place in effect the following schedule of
rates for local exchange telephone service to be effective
on the first billing date after final passage of the within
Ordinance. Said schedule of rates is as follows:
One Party Business Flat Rate $13. 50
Business Extension Station Flat 1. 50
One Party Residence 6.25
Two Party Residence 4.90
Residence Extension Station 1.00
Commercial PBX Trunk (a)
Commercial PBX Station 1. 50
Measured Hotel PBX Trunk (Guarantee) (b)
Measured Hotel PBX Station 1.00
Semi-Public Coin Telephone Service (c)
Coin Telephone Charge per Local Message .10
Extension Semi-Public-Coin 1. 50

Suburban Four Party Business 10. 50 (d)

(a) The rate for a flat rate PBX Trunk is one and one-half
times the rate for one party business flat rate service.
(b) Minimum local message revenue guarantee equal to one
party business flat rate service.
(c) The rate for flat rate Semi-Public-Coin Telephone
service is 40% of the rate for one party business flat
rate service.
(d) Basic Rate for initial suburban service area only.
(e) Basic Rate for initial rural service area only. Rural
service is not available within the initial suburban
service area. Southwestern Bell Telephone Company
may withdraw rural service as facilities are made
available to provide a better class of service.
Section 2: All ordinances heretofore passed by the City of Huntsville
establishing rates and charges for telephone service (with
the exception of the ordinance dated December 4, 1956,
establishing a base rate area) are hereby repealed effective
with the establishment of the rates authorized in Section 1
above.
Section 3: Nothing contained in this ordinance shall be construed
now or hereafter as limiting or modifying, in any manner, the right
and power of the city under the law to regulate the rates and charges
of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
