ORD CC 12/06/1966 - SH College property Mr. �2 - introduced the following Ordinance and
moved its adoption, Mr. seconded the Motion, and the
Ordinance was unanimously adopted, and the Ordinance reads as follows:
ORDINANCE
The State of Texas, for the use and benefit of Sam Houston State College,
has acquired all of the property adjoining on the North, East, and South of
that part of 19th Street, 50' in width, from its intersection with the East
line of Avenue I thence, in an easterly direction a distance 465 ' to the
eastern terminal of 19th Street. Such property has been acquired by the State
of Texas in connection with the Master Plan for the development of Sam Houston
State College. All of the owners of the former property adjoining said Street
have moved therefrom and that portion of said Street has, as a matter of law,
become abandoned for use by the citizens of the City of Huntsville and hereby
designated for the exclusive use of Sam Houston State College.
It having been made known to the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Huntsville that in connection with such development program of Sam Houston
State College, an Agency of the Federal Government has requested that the State
of Texas, on behalf of Sam Houston State College, acquire from the City a Deed
of Abandonment to evidence such abandonment in fact and that the City of
Huntsville has no further need for the use of said Street.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS, in council duly assembled, that the portion of 19th Street above
described has been abandoned in fact, and that the City of Huntsville, acting
by its Mayor and City Secretary, shall forthwith execute and deliver to the
State of Texas, on behalf of Sam Houston State College, a Deed of Abandonment
thereto.
