ADDITIONAL AREAS IN THE CITY OF Huntsvilla IN WHICH RATES OF
SPEED OF THIRTY (30) MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED;
RESCINDING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT
ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION 8
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF Huntsville

SECTION I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating
to speed zones on State Highways in the City of Aaatsyille are
hereby rescinded, and the following are additional specifically

designated areas in which a rate of speed of thirty (30) miles per hour
or more is authorized:
(a) U.S. Highway 75, for traffic moving in both directions, for the
first 0.650 mile from the West City Limit, the speed limit shall
be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 mile the speed
limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.400
mile the speed limit shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour. For
the next 0.920 mile the speed limit shall be thirty (30) miles per
hour. For the next 0.350 mile the speed limit shall be thirty-five
(35) miles per hour. For the next 0.400 mile the speed limit shall
be forty (40) miles per hour. For the next 0.700 mile to the South
City Limit the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour.
(b) U.S. Highway 190, for traffic moving in both directions, for the
first 1.352 miles from the West City Limit the speed limit shall
be as shown above for U.S. Highway 75, U.S. Highway 190 and U.S.
Highway 75 being concurrent over this route from the West City
Limit to the intersection of Avenue L and 11th Street.
U.S. Highway 190, for traffic moving in both directions from the
Junction with U.S. Highway 75 (Intersection of llth Street and
Avenue L) for a distance of 0.500 mile the speed limit shall be
thirty (30) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 mile the speed
limit shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour. For the next
0.379 mile to the East City Limit the speed limit shall be forty-
five (45) miles per hour.
(c) State Highway 19, for traffic moving in both directions, from the
West City Limit for the first 0.080 mile, the speed limit shall be
forty-five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.570 mile to the
intersection with U.S. Highway 75, Business Route, the speed limit
shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For the next 0.464 mile, from
the intersection with U.S. Highway 75, Business Route, to the inter-
section with Avenue L, the speed limit shall be as zoned above on

U.S. Highway 75, these highways being concurrent over this
route. For the next 0.608 mile, from the intersection with
Avenue L to the intersection with U.S. Highway 190, the speed
limit shall be as zoned above on U.S. Highway 190, these high-
ways being concurrent over this route. For the next 0.100
mile the speed limit shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour.
For the next 0.200 mile the speed limit shall be forty-five
(45) miles per hour. For the next 0.260 mile to the East City
Limit the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour.
(d) Farm-to-Market Road 247, for traffic moving in both directions,
from the ,junction with U.S. Highway 190 for the first 0.866
mile, the speed limit shall be thirty (30) miles per hour. For
the next 0.050 mile to the North City Limit, the speed limit
shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour.
(e) Farm-to-Market Road 1374, for traffic moving in both directions,
for the first 0.200 mile from the intersection with U.S. High-
way 75, the speed limit shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour.
For the next 0.400 mile to the South City limit, the speed limit
shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour.

SECTION II: WHEREAS, *the preservation of the general welfare of the
public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance shall be effective
from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the
City of Huntsville
