AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, PROVIDING
FOR THE CONSERVATION OF WATER PRODUCED FROM MUNICIPALLY
OWNED WATER WELL SYSTEM; PROHIBITING OUTDOOR RESIDENTIAL
AND DISTanTION L USE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; PROVIDING A
PENALTY; PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND THE EFFECTIVE
DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1: It shall be an offense for any person to use municipally
supplied water for outdoor residential and institutional use.
Section 2: Any person who violates this Ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be
punished by a fine not to exceed TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00).
Each day such violation shall continue or be permitted shall
be considered a separate offense.
Section 3: The fact that the water supply of the City is at a
critically low level and the further fact that adequate water
levels must be maintained for the health, safety, and welfare
of the citizens of the City creates a public necessity and
an emergency. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its publication.
