ORD 2012-36 - Amending Speed Zones ORDINANCE 2012-36
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES
ADDITIONAL AREAS IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THIRTY(30)
MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE
IMMEDIATE ACTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE:
SECTION I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating to speed zones on FM 247 in the City of
HUNTSVILLE are hereby rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated areas in which a rate of speed of
thirty(30)miles per hour or more is authorized.
A.) FM 247, for traffic moving in a southerly direction for 0.604 miles, from the Huntsville north city limit, the
speed limit shall be fifty-five (55) miles per hour. For the next 0.792 miles, the speed limit shall be
fifty(50)miles per hour. For the next 0.425 miles,the speed limit shall be forty(40)miles per hour.
For the next 0.976 miles,to the intersection with SH 30,the speed limit shall be thirty(30)miles per
hour.
B.)FM 247, for traffic moving in a northerly direction for 0.976 miles, from the intersection with SH 30, the
speed limit shall be thirty(30)miles per hour. For the next 0.425 miles,the speed limit shall be forty
(40) miles per hour. For the next 0.792 miles, the speed limit shall be fifty(50) miles per hour. For
the next 0.604 miles, to the Huntsville north city limit, the speed limit shall be fifty-five (55) miles
per hour.
SECTION II: WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance
shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of Huntsville.
