of July, 1947, the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas,
convened in regular session at its regular meeting place at the
City I11 and Fire Strtion, in said City, the following members
being present, to-wit: Hon. Voilbourn S. Gibbs, Mayor, V. T. Rob-
inson, Sam Robbins, 'ilbur I. Smither, J. L. Scarborough, Victor
Randel and J. O. Thompson, Lidermee, and Kete Barr Ross, City Sec-
retery, when among other proceedings had was the following ordi-
nance duly dopted upon motion and duly accepted by unanimous vote
of ell members present, to-wit:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntsvil3e,
Texas, deem it advisable to issue the bonds of said City for the
purposes hereinefter mentioned:
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTS-
VILLE, TEXAS IN COUNCIL ASSEMBLED:
That an election be held within said City on the 29th day
of July, 1947, at which election the following proposition shall be
submitted to the qualified property taxpaying voters residing with-
in and entitled to vote at said election within said City of Hunts-
ville, to-wit:
FIRST PROPOSITION: Sia11 the City Council of the City of
Huntsville, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of the City of
Huntsville, Texas, in the principel sum of Ninety Thousand
($90,000.00) Dollars, payable and maturing serially within a given
number of years beginning not more than five (5) years after the
date thereof, and extending over a period of not to exceed forty
(40) years from and efter the date thereof, within the discretion
of the City Council of said City, bearing interest et the rate of
not exceeding three and one-half (3-) per cent per annum, payable
annually or semi-aeluelly, at the discretion of said Council, and
to levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds and to
create a sinking fund sufficient to redeem them at maturity for the

in accordance wit and as aut orized by Article 32 9h of the le-
vised Civil Statutes of the State of Texes of 1925, end the amend-
ments thereto, and in accordance -iith and as authorized by Title 28
of the Revised Civil statutes of the State of Texas of 1925, and
the amendments thereto, and in accordance with the Constitution and
Laws of the State of Texas.
SECOND PROPOSITION: Shall the City Council of the City
of Huntsville, Texas be authorized to issue the bonds of the City
of Huntsville, Texes, in the principal sum of Fifty Thousand
($50,000.00) Dollars, payable and maturing serially within a given
number of years beeinning not more than five (5) years efter the
date thereof, and extending over e period of not to exceed forty
(40) years from and after the date thereof, within the discretion
of the City Council of said City, herring interest at the rate of
not exceeding three and one-half (3-i) per cent per annun, payable
annually or semi-annually, in the discretion of said Council, and
to levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds and to

gravel or asphalt, or in aid thereof, and to pay the City's propor-
tionate pert, or all, of the cost of such street improvements and
repairs within the discretion of said Council to be made under the
front foot rule or plan, or otherwise, in eccordence with and as
authorized by Title 28 of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State
of Texas of 1925, end the amendments thereto, and in accordance
with the Constitution and Laws of the State of Texes.
THIRD PROPOSITION: Shall the City Council of the City
of Huntsville, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of the City
of Huntsville, Texas, in the principal sun of Fifteen Thoust.nd
(a5,000.00) Dollars, payable and maturing serially lithin e given

date thereof, and extending over a period of not exceeding forty
(40) years from end efter the date thereof, within the discretion
of the City Council of said City, becring interest at the rate of

rock, grevi or asphalt, or in aid thereof, and to pay the City's
proportionate part, or all, of the cost of such street improvements
within the discretion of said Council to be made under the front
foot rule or plan, or otherwise, in accordance with and as authorized
by Title 28 of the Revised Civil Stetutes of the State of Texas of
1925, and the amendments thereto, and in accordance with the Consti-
tution and Laws of the State of Texas.
Said election shall be held et the City Hall and Fire Sta-
tion, within the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the following named
persons are hereby appointed officers of said election, to-wit:
Ches. B. Fadell, as Manager and Judge, and J. Sam Angier and H. O.
Leigh, as Clerks. Said election shall be held under the provisions
of Title 22 of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas of
1925, and the amendments thereto, and the Constitution and Laws of
the State of Texes, and only qualified voters who are property tax-
payers of said City shell be allowed to vote et said election.
All voters who favor the FIHST PROPOSITION to issue the
bonds and levy the tax shall have written or printed on their ballots
the words: "FOR TID; ISSUANCE OF THE AIRPORT BONDS AND THE LEVY OF THE
TAX", and those opposed to the FIRST PROPOSITION shall have written
or printed on their ballots the words: "AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF THE
AIRPORT BONDS AND THE LEVY OF THE TAX". All voters who favor the
SECOND PROPOSITION to issue the bonds and levy the tax shall have
written or printed on their ballots: "FOR THE ISSUANCE OF THE STREET
IMPROVEMENT BONDS AND THE LEVY OF THE TAX", and those opposed to the
SECOND PROPOSITION shall heve written or printed on their ballots
the words: "AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF THE STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS AND
TEE LEVY OF THE TAX". [11 voters who favor the THIRD PROPOSITION to

issue the bonds and levy the tax shell heve written or printed.
on their ballots the words: "F0 THE ISSUANCE OF THE COURTHOUSE
YARD BONDS AND THE LEVY OF THE TAX", and those opposed to the
THIRD PROPOSITION shall have written or printed on their bellots:
"AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF THE COURTHOUSE YARD BONDS AND THE LLYY
OF TEE TAX".
The manner of holding said election shall be governed
by the General Laws of the State of Texas regulating elections.
A copy of this ordinance signed by the Hon. Wilbourn S.
Gibbs, Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texes, and attested by
Kate Barr Ross, City Secretary of seid City, with the seal of said
City affixed thereto, shall serve as proper notice of said election.
Notice of seid election shall be given by posting a sub-
stantial copy of this election order in etch of the wards of the
City of Huntsville, Texes, end. also et the City Hall and Fire Sta-
tion within said City. Such notice shall also be published on
the seine Thy in each of two (2) successive weeks in a newspaper
of generel circulation published within said City, the date of the
first publication to be not less then fourteen (14) days prior to
the date set for said election. The provisions of Article 704 of
the Revised Civil Stetutes of the Stete of Texes, es amended, shell
control over any City Charter provisions to the contrary.
This ordinance shall teke effect upon its adoption by
the City Council and upon its approval by the Mayor of said City
of Huntsville, Texas.
The foregoing ordinance was submitted to the Committee
on Streets and Bridges end to the Airport Committee at a regular
session thereof held on this 1st day of July, 1947.

with the reconnendetion that the same be adopted with the emergency
clause putting this ordinance into effect upon its adoption and
approval.
