ORDINANCE NO. 77 -15
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXTENSION OF A
CONTRACT BETWEN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE AND
THE HUNTSVILLE - WALKER COUNTY CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL TERM OF THREE YEARS
UPON EXPIRATION OF THE PRESENT AGREEMENT AND
PROVIDING FOR A PERMANENT ALLOCATION OF COSTS
OF ACCOUNTING AND COLLECTION:
WHEREAS by authority of Ordinance NO. 74-23 , dated
November 12, 1974, the City of Huntsville has heretofore on the
12th day of November 1974, entered into an agreement with the
Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce for such agency to
administer funds collected by the City pursuant to said ordinance,
such funds being three (3 %) per cent of the cost of occupancy of
hotel or motel rooms within the City of Huntsville as more fully set
forth in said ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the said City has now determined that three (3 %) per
cent of revenues so collected are sufficient funds to defray the
City's cost of collection and accounting and that such agreement
should now be amended to reflect such sum; and
WHEREAS, effective August 29, 1977, the rate of tax so levied
shall be increased to four (4%) per cent by amendment of Ordinance
NO. 74-23 ; and, whereas such contract as now authorized will
expire on November 12th, 1977, which contract should be extended in
the public interest;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City
of Huntsville that the Mayor of said City is hereby authorized to
extend the agreement presently in force between the City of Huntsville
and the Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce for an additional
term of three years from and after November 12, 1977, under the same
terms and conditions therein contained.
