AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17, OF THE. CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION ENTITLED SECTION:
17 -63, PROVIDING THAT IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL FOR ANY
PERSON,FIRM OR CORPORATION TO DISPOSE OF ANY WASTE
WATER OR OTHER LIQUID WASTE CONTAINING CEMENT, CONCRETE
OR OTHER BUILDING MATERIAL, OIL, CHEMICALS, OR OTHER
LIQUID INDUSTRIAL WASTE UPON ANY PUBLIC STREET OR
GUTTER, OR TO ALLOW SUCH WASTE TO FLOW INTO OR UPON ANY
PUBLIC STREET, CURB, GUTTER, SEWER, CULVERT, OR DRAINAGE
CHANNELS WITHIN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the City of Huntsville, Texas, has from time to
time been called upon to clean out, repair and otherwise maintain
storm drainage culverts, gutters, and other City streets which have
become clogged by virtue of debris, cement, and other wastes, liquids
and solids deposited in the streets, gutters and drains, which clogging
of such drains endangers the public health and safety by preventing
storm waters from flowing through drainage channels as intended with
the result of such drainage and storm waters backing up onto public
and private property causing great damage and that by virtue thereof
in order to protect the public health, safety and welfare a necessity
exists to prohibit the discharge of such materials into public streets,
gutters, drains or drainage systems.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that Chapter 17 , Section 17 -63 ,be
the Code of Ordinances of the City of HuntsviTlle, Texas, is hereby
added to read as follows:
SECTION 17 -63
A. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to discharge or dispose any waste water
or other liquid waste containing cement, concrete,
building materials, oil, chemicals, or other liquid
industrial waste by draining, flushing, or any other
method of discharge or disposal so as to allow such
waste to run into any street, gutter, sewer, storm
sewer, or other drainage structure within the corporate
limits of the City of Huntsville.
Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions
of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be deemed
guilty of a class C misdemeanor and shall be punished
as provided in Section 1 -8 of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Huntsville.

PORATION SHALL DEPOSIT
TRASH, GARBAGE, OR OTHER
REFUSE IN ANY SANITATION
CONTAINER PROVIDED BY THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE FOR USE
BY OTHER PERSONS, FIRMS OR
CORPORATIONS AND TO WHOM
CHARGES ARE MADE FOR SUCH.
USE, PROVIDING A PENALTY,
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EF-
FECTIVE DATE. Any person

Two changes
are made in
department
Two changes, including a
promotion to sergeant, have
been effected in the Huntsville
Police Department it was an-
nounced Thursday.
Wayne Wood, who has been
with the department 10 years,
will attain sergeant's rank
effective April 6. Wood
currently holds an Intermediate
Certificate from the Texas
Commission on Law En-
forcement and is attending Sam
Houston State University.
Alfred Bardy Craft, a native t
of Lafayette, La., has joined the
force. Craft is a veteran of the
US Navy.
Wood also was in the armed
forces, attaining the rank of
Staff Sergeant in the Army, and
in the Military Police. Wood
was born in Ft. Bend County, .
but has lived in Huntsville since
he was three years old.
