AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12, SECTION 12 -71 (c), OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, BY ALLOW-
ING TURNS ON RED TRAFFIC SIGNALS UNLESS OTHERWISE PROHIBITED
BY POSTED NOTICE AND PROVIDING EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT CHAPTER 12, SECTION 12 -71 (c) OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IS HEREBY AMENDED
TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
Section 12 -71 (c). Red alone or "Stop ".
(1) Vehicular traffic'facing a steady red
signal alone shall stop.at a clearly
marked stop sign, but, if none, before
entering the crosswalk on the near side
of the intersection, and may then turn
right, or if the intersecting streets are
both one -way streets and left turns are
permissible, may turn left, after standing
until the intersection may be entered safely,
yielding right -of -way to Pedestrians lawfully
within an adjacent crosswalk and to other
traffic lawfully using the intersection.
Provided'however, that the City Council
may from time to time by Resolution direct
that an intersection at which a traffic
signal device is located shall be designated
as a "No Right Turn" intersection and the
erection of a sign or notice stating no
right turn shall be prima facia evidence of
such designation by the City Council. It shall
be unlawful for any person to turn right
on a red traffic signal when such notice is
posted prohibiting such turns.
SECTION 2:
The within ordinance is passed to conform the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Huntsville to recently enacted State Legislation and
by virtue thereof shall become effective from and after its passage.
