AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12, SECTION 12 -11 (a) OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
DESIGNATING AREAS IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WHICH RATES
OF SPEED OF THIRTY (30) MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED;
RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT CHAPTER 12, SECTION 12 -11 (a)
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, IS
HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
(a) US Highway 75, for traffic moving in a southerly
direction for the first 1.473 miles approximately
from the intersection with Sam Houston Avenue
the speed limit shall be thirty (30) miles per
hour. For the next 0.820 mile approximately the
speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour.
For the next 0.200 mile approximately the speed
limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For
the next 1.235 miles approximately to the south
city limits the speed limit shall be sixty (60)
miles per hour.
For traffic moving in a northerly direction, for
the first 1.235 miles approximately from the south
city limit the speed limit shall be sixty (60)
miles per hour. For the next 0.200 mile ap-
proximately the speed limit shall be fifty (50)
miles per hour. For the next 0.820 approximately
the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per
hour. For the next 1.473 miles approximately to
the intersection with Sam Houston Avenue the speed
limit shall be thirty (30) miles per hour.
A school speed limit of twenty (20) miles per
hour shall be in effect when so signed from
approximately 500 feet west of the intersection
of Avenue 0 to a point approximately 500 feet
east of this intersection.
US Highway 75, for traffic moving in a southerly
direction for the first 1.288 miles approximately
from the north city limit, the speed limit shall
be established by the State Highway Commission.
For the next 1.239 miles approximately the speed
limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour.
For the next 0.356 mile approximately the speed
limit shall be forty -five (45) miles per hour.
For the next 0.435 mile approximately to the
intersection with Sam Houston Avenue the speed
limit shall be thirty (30) miles per hour.
For traffic moving in a northerly direction, for
the first 0.435 mile approximately from the inter-
section with Sam Houston Avenue the speed limit
shall be thirty (30) miles per hour. For the
next 0.356 mile approximately the speed limit
shall be forty -five (45) miles per hour. For the
next 1.239 miles approximately the speed limit
shall be fifty-five (55) miles per hour.
For the next 1.288 miles approximately to
the north city limit, the speed limit shall
be established by the State Highway Commission.
All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
