WITH THE NORTHWEST LINE OF U. S. HIGHWAY NO. 75, NORTH-
WESTERLY TO MAGNOLIA STREET AND ABANDONING FOR PUBLIC
USE THAT PORTION HERETOFORE INCLUDED IN AVENUE I LYING
ALONG A LINE 7 FEET WESTERLY FROM THE BACK CURB LINE OF
THE PRESENT PAVEMENT AND 25 FEET FROM THE CENTER LINE
OF AVENUE I AS NOW LOCATED.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
THAT, WHEREAS, Avenue I has been re- located from its inter-
section with the northeast line of U. S. Highway No. 75, north-
westerly, and the City has heretofore accepted a designation made
by Gibbs Brothers & Company of the portion of land westerly from
a line 7 feet easterly and 25 feet from the center line of the
pavement, parallel with the back curb line from the northeast
line of U. S. Highway No. 75 to the southeast intersection with
Magnolia Street, evidenced by instrument dated June 5, 1963, and
recorded in Volume 1$1, Page 399, of the Walker County Deed Records;
and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to establish the west or southwest
line of Avenue I as presently located 25 feet westerly from the
center line of Avenue I.
It is, therefore, hereby declared and designated that Avenue
I shall hereafter be located as follows:
Being a width of 50 feet from the west line of the Gibbs
Brothers & Company line and established in the instrument dated
June 5, 1963, same being 25 feet on each side of the center line
of the pavement located thereon, from U. S. Highway No. 75,
southwesterly to Magnolia Street; and the City of Huntsville
does hereby abandon for public use that portion of the land formerly
lying within Avenue I which lies westerly between a line parallel
with and 7 feet from the back west curb line extending northwesterly
from Highway No. 75 to a point opposite the intersection of Avenue
I with Magnolia Street and the east line of the abutting property
along the old west line of Avenue I owned by W. B. Foster,
and does hereby authorize the mayor on behalf of the City to
execute a deed, without warranty, conveying said abandoned
portion of the old location of Avenue I to W. B. Foster.
Passed at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Huntsville, on February 4, 1964.
