RESOLUTION NO. 2016-28
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATION FOR THE 2016 HOMELAND
SECURITY GRANT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR EQUIPMENT; AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S
PARTICIPATION IN THE 2016 GRANT.
WHEREAS The City desires to ensure the safety of all it citizens and; The City of Huntsville
requires the Police be charged with this task; and
WHEREAS the City Council finds it in the best interest of the City of Huntsville to apply for
funding under the 2016 Homeland Security Grant.
NOW,THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville,Texas,that:
SECTION 1: A Homeland Security Grant application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of
the City and be placed in competition for funding to the Office of the Governor.
SECTION 2: The application will be for$99,936.00 to furnish radios for the Huntsville Police and
Fire Departments.
SECTION 3; The City Council agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the
Governor funds, City Council assures that the funds will be returned to the Office of
the Governor in full.
SECTION 4: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to address the safety
needs of the Community.
SECTION 5: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager as the City's Authorized
Representative to act in all matters in connection with this application and the City's
participation in the 2016 Homeland Security Grant represented by Grant#3080601.
