A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF THE 2015 JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT TO THE
HOUSTON - GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL (H -GAC) AND THE TEXAS CRIMINAL JUSTICE
DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE FOR BODY CAMERAS; AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN
THE 2016 JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT.
WHEREAS the City desires to ensure the safety and well-being of all it citizens; and,
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville requires the Huntsville Police Department be charged with this
task; and,
WHEREAS it is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the
Justice Assistance Grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
SECTION 1: A Justice Assistance Grant application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of
the City and be placed in competition for funding to H -GAC.
SECTION 2: Application Grant # 3057801 will be for $93,625.00.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to address the safety
and well-being needs of the Community.
SECTION 4: The City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division
funds, the City assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice
Division in full.
SECTION 5: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager as the City's Chief
Executive as the authorized official and is given the power to apply for, accept,
reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the City.
