AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR A14Y PERSON,
FIRM OR CORPORATION TO PERMIT ANY PROPERTY, OBJECT
OR OBSTRUCTION UPON THE STREET, SIDEWALK, ALLEYS
AND OT.11R PUBLIC PROPERTY OF THE CITY OF HUdTSVILLE:
and PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR TBE VIOLATION THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntsville has been un-
able to obtain the cooperation of some of the citizens of the City►
of Huntsville in keeping the streets, sidewalks and alleys free from
objects and. obstruction so that it has become advisable to pass ar.
ordinance so that other citizens shall not be inconvenienced, and be-
oause of a great public demand therefor, the City Council has con-
sidered and passed the following ordinance:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
Section 1. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to obstruct or encumber, to any extent, any portion of any
street, alley, sidewalk or bpulic ground in the City of Huntsville with
lumber, boxes, timber, firewood, posts, vehicles, merchandise offered
for sale or displayed or anything whatever in any manner whatever.
Section 2. It shall hereafter be unlawful for arty person, firm or
corporation to place any barrel or barrels, box or boxes, wood,
merchandise, vehicle or other substances on any sidevralis in the City
of Huntsville, so as to obstruct entirely or in part passage along
said sidewalk or any part thereof. No one shall have or maintain any
fruit stand, huckster's stand or other stall on any sidewalk in the
City of Huntsville, The provisions of this section shall apply to the
area between the front established building line and the curb line.
The provisions of this section of this ordinance are not intended to prevent
the unloading of merchandise or other articles upon the sidewalk where the
same is removed to the premises abutting thereon within a reasonable time
after such unloading.
Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be
fined in any sum not to exceed $100.00, and every day suej object or
obstruction remains or is placed in or on any street, alley, sidewalk
or public property shall constitute a separate and distince offense
and shall be treated as such.
